How Teachers are Using PeerTeach
Daily Checks For Understanding
When: Directly after teaching new content
Frequency: 3-5x per week
Problem: Ms. Walker teaches a mini lesson every day, Monday through Thursday, but she often isn’t sure which students truly grasp the new material. She may notice that about half the class is struggling, but she doesn’t know who needs help or why. With limited time before moving on to the next topic, she can’t provide personalized support to fill the gaps.
Solution: After each mini lesson, Ms. Walker has her students use PeerTeach for a quick, 5-6 minute exit ticket that’s aligned with what they just learned. PeerTeach provides her with actionable insights, identifying which students need additional help and the specific concepts they’re struggling with. The next day, Ms. Walker starts her class with a 10-minute PeerTeach session, where struggling students get peer support to address their gaps before moving on to the next topic.
Impact: With this daily practice, Ms. Walker ensures no student gets left behind, and she’s able to do all of this within her regular teaching schedule. Her students receive timely support to address misunderstandings, build confidence, and stay on track with new material.

Weekly Reteach
When: On the same day each week
Problem: Mr. Thompson teaches a mini lesson every day, Monday through Thursday, and covers multiple topics each week. By Friday, he knows some students didn’t fully grasp certain concepts, but he’s not sure who needs help or where they’re struggling. Without clear data, it’s challenging to plan targeted review sessions or reteach effectively before moving on to new material the following week.
Solution: On Friday, Mr. Thompson now uses PeerTeach to identify each student’s struggles and the just-right peer coach to help push through them. Students begin with a 7-minute pre-assessment on their individual devices. PeerTeach instantly analyzes results and pairs students for a 15-minute peer tutoring session, where coaches use the ATM strategy (Ask, Tip, Model) with on-screen guidance. After tutoring, students take an 8-minute post-assessment individually. The session ends with a celebration screen showcasing their growth, earned coins, and positive reinforcement.
Impact: By the end of class, Mr. Thompson has clear data on student progress, eliminating the need for additional quiz data. His students received the support they needed, improved their understanding, and for the few who still struggle, he can provide targeted follow-up individually.

Review For Exams
When: The week before midterms and state tests
Problem: Mr. Johnson wants to prepare his students for their upcoming midterms, covering an entire semester’s worth of material. His class is a mix of strengths and weaknesses—some students excel at certain topics but struggle with others. He knows his students need focused practice and reinforcement, but providing individualized review while keeping the entire class engaged is overwhelming.
Solution: To tackle the challenge, Mr. Johnson dedicates one week to intensive peer coaching with PeerTeach. Each day, students dive into different topics from the exam syllabus, working in carefully matched pairs to help each other strengthen their understanding. Coaches guide their partners using structured strategies, ensuring every student benefits from targeted review.
Impact: By the end of the week, students have revisited key concepts, practiced collaboratively, and built the confidence they need for the exam. Meanwhile, Mr. Johnson has a clear picture of each student’s readiness, allowing him to focus any final review time on the areas where the class needs the most help.
